Students using Kidblog and iPods/iPads for Blogging
Miss Yarzabek's Class Blogs
Each day as students enter the classroom they may find their name beside a picture of an ipod, ipad or computer icon. If they do they know it's their day to blog. They grab the device and begin their blog entry for the day. Other people who have been invited by the teacher come onto their blog site and comment back on the students posts. The teacher moderates all posts so there is complete control over what gets posted. The students are thrilled that real people are reading and commenting on their writing. Mr. Pegher's Blog |

Fish Stories Audioboo and QR Codes for First Grade Dig. Storytelling
First Grade students in Mrs. Averill's class created these lovely fish pictures in art. Then they wrote stories about their fish in the classroom. The teacher created a free account on Audioboo.com.
Other voice recorders
Mrs. Averill had the students record their stories using the Audioboo App on ipads and ipods. Once saved, each recording is associated with it's own URL and can be access on the Audioboo website. Fish Story Example
The teacher used the QR code generator Kaywa to create the QR codes. No account is needed on Kaywa you just paste in the URL for each recording and it generates the QR code.
QR codes and be put into a word doc, printed out and glued onto each child's fish picture.
Last and final step. Download QR readers onto your handheld device. Several I like are....
i-nigma
neoReader
Qrafter
Mrs. Averill even sent the parents a note and many came to the evening event with the QR reader on their phone. They were then able to email or forward the recordings to grandparents or parents who couldn't attend. A big success.
